Pedestrian critical after hit-and-run in Shirley, police say

A hit-and-run crash early Sunday in Shirley left a 21-year-old pedestrian in critical condition, Suffolk County police said.
Police identified the victim as Gerson Izaguirre of Mastic.
Izaguirre was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital, police said.
At about 2:30 a.m., Izaguirre was walking eastbound across William Floyd Parkway, just south of Flintlock Drive, when a vehicle traveling southbound on the parkway hit him, police said, adding that the driver left the scene.
Police said the vehicle involved was described by witnesses as a red sedan with possible damage to the front end and driver’s side.
