East Patchogue woman, 71, arrested after Holbrook hit-run, Suffolk police say
A witness to an alleged hit and run in Holbrook Thursday followed the driver home and called 911, leading to the driver’s arrest, police said.
In a release, Suffolk police said Pauline Ross, 71, of East Patchogue, was driving south on North Ocean Avenue at 10:20 p.m. when she hit a man who was walking in the roadway.
Ross kept driving, police said, but the witness followed Ross's 2020 Hyundai Elantra to her home and called police. Officers arrested Ross there.
Ross was charged with leaving the scene of an accident with serious physical injury, a felony. She will be arraigned at a later date.
It was not immediately clear if she was represented by an attorney.
The victim, a 50-year-old Medford man, was taken to Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue for treatment of serious, but non-life-threatening, injuries. It was unclear where on the road he was walking when he was hit, a police spokesman said.
