Commack home burglary: Police searching for suspect who threatened residents with gun, zip ties
A burglar earlier this month threatened residents of a Commack home with a handgun and zip ties before a resident was struck in the head, according to the Suffolk County Police Department.
Video the department posted to YouTube shows a masked man pointing the handgun after someone opens the door. He's wearing all black with a medical mask covering his face and holding a Postal Service envelope and zip ties. Police say the man forced entry into the home.
The burglary, on Daisy Lane, happened on Sept. 13 at 7:32 p.m., the department wrote in a news release.
The suspect struck one resident in the head before fleeing on foot, police said, adding that nothing was taken from the home. No other information was disclosed.
Suffolk County Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information about this incident can call 1-800-220-TIPS or use a mobile app, which can be downloaded through the App Store or Google Play by searching P3 Tips, or online at www.P3Tips.com.
