Homeless man charged in June Hempstead stabbing, cops say

A homeless man was charged Wednesday with the stabbing of another man in the victim’s home in June in Hempstead, Nassau County police said.
Herlindo Vasquez-Ramiez, 38, who has no known address, was arrested in Uniondale at about 1:30 a.m. and was charged with second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, police said.
According to detectives, during an argument that occurred just before 11 p.m. on June 20, 2015, Vasquez-Ramiez stabbed a 27-year-old man in the “back, stomach and finger” in the victim’s Homan Boulevard home. The suspect then fled, police said.
The victim was taken to a hospital for surgery and is currently recovering from his injuries, according to police.
Police said Vasquez-Ramiez faces arraignment Wednesday at First District Court in Hempstead. Arraignment information was not immediately available.
