Homeless man stole items from LI, Queens vehicles, cops say

A homeless man from New York City faces multiple charges, including grand larceny, in the theft of items from parked cars across Nassau County and the city dating to August 2015, police said Thursday.

Nassau County police said Michael Taylor, 33, with no known address, committed more than 60 larcenies across Garden City, Searingtown, Carle Place, Valley Stream, Levittown, Woodmere and neighborhoods in eastern Queens.

He also used credit cards and identification taken from the vehicles, most of which were parked in public and commercial lots, to make fraudulent purchases, police said.

He was arrested after an investigation that also included Garden City Police, the NYPD and Nassau’s Asset Forfeiture Unit.

Taylor is charged with reckless endangerment, 13 counts of grand larceny, defraud, 12 counts of criminal possession of stolen property, criminal mischief and 12 counts of identity theft.

He is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday at First District Court in Hempstead.
