Homicide victim found in Middle Island woods, cops say

Suffolk County police are investigating a body found Saturday afternoon in Middle Island as a homicide.
Police said a dog walker discovered a man’s body about 3 p.m. Saturday in a wooded area behind a former Kmart store at 1075 Middle Country Rd.
Suffolk County homicide detectives remained at the scene collecting evidence Saturday night.
Police have not identified the man or released a cause of death. Officials were unclear how long the body had been in the woods before it was found.
Police are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS. Callers may remain anonymous.
