Huntington Station deli workers sold alcohol to minors, cops say

Three deli employees in Huntington Station were charged with selling alcohol to a minor late Friday night, Suffolk County police said.

Police said Second Precinct Crime Section and Community Support Unit officers conducted a sting operation targeting 10 businesses — some of which were chosen in response to community complaints, others at random — between 8 p.m. and midnight Friday.

The operation netted three arrests: Donis Rodriguez, 37, who works at Los Cercadillos Grocery at 184 Depot Rd.; Rehmen Qureshi, 41, who works at One Stop Deli at 150 W. Pulaski Rd.; and Angel Galloza, 22, who works at Papa Ningo Deli at 1888 New York Ave. All were charged with first-degree unlawfully dealing with a child after police said they each sold alcohol to a minor.

Galloza was additionally charged with violating state law for allowing customers to drink alcohol on the premise without a permit.

Each were issued field appearance tickets, police said, but information on when they will be arraigned was not immediately available.

The operation was part of an ongoing effort to combat the sale of alcohol to minors, police said.
