Two men were shot dead overnight on Long Island — one in Nassau and another in Suffolk, according to the county police departments.
In Suffolk, Luis Cameron Rimmer-Hernandez, 21, of Dix Hills, was found fatally shot in Huntington Station Monday at about 10:49 p.m., according to the Suffolk County Police Department. That shooting occurred on Lowndes Avenue and a 911 call alerted the police, a news release said.
"When police arrived, they found a man lying in the street with a gunshot wound," the release said.
About six hours later, at 4:55 a.m., a 37-year-old man was found "with several gunshot wounds" on California Avenue in Hempsead, according to the Nassau County Police Department. He was brought to the hospital and pronounced dead, the department's news release said. His name wasn't disclosed.
Neither department said whether there is a known motive, whether there are suspects, or whether the cases are connected.
