Huntington Station man charged with slashing man

Eric Oquendo, 31, of Huntington Station, was arrested Oct. 1, 2010 after he allegedly slashed another man in the shoulder with a box cutter, Suffolk police said.
A Huntington Station man was arrested Friday after he slashed another man in the shoulder with a box cutter, Suffolk police said.
Witnesses held Eric Oquendo, 31, of 16 West Rte. 25, until officers arrived, police said. Second Squad detectives charged Oquendo with second-degree assault.
Jonathan Vega, 23, of New York Avenue in Huntington Station, was treated for his shoulder injury at Huntington Hospital and released, police said. Oquendo also was treated after the confrontation at North Shore-LIJ Plainview Hospital and released, but his injuries were not specified by police.
The two men were walking together on East 25th Street about 2:30 p.m. when an argument developed, police said.
Oquendo was to be arraigned Saturday in First District Court in Central Islip.
