Huntington Station pedestrian hit-run driver sought, cops say

Suffolk County police are still searching for the driver of a sport utility vehicle that struck and seriously injured a pedestrian on New York Avenue early Tuesday in Huntington Station.
The pedestrian, William Alvarez-Jovel, 41, of Huntington Station, suffered serious head and internal injuries and was taken to Huntington Hospital, police said.
He was attempting to cross New York Avenue at West Hills Road when he was struck at 1:51 a.m., police said.
Second Squad detectives have determined the vehicle involved was a 2003 to 2005 Honda Pilot that sustained front-end damage, police said Thursday in a news release.
Police are asking anyone with information regarding the accident to call detectives at 631-854-8252 or call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 800-220-TIPS (8477).
