James M. Miller of Newburgh stole Nuzzolese Bros. Ice Corp.’s company checks, police say

A Newburgh man has been charged with grand larceny after, police said, he deposited checks from a Hicksville company meant for a vendor into his own bank account.

In September, an employee at Nuzzolese Bros. Ice Corp. in Hicksville discovered several checks sent to Arctic Glacier, a vendor, were not received, detectives said.

An investigation revealed the checks, valued at more than $200,000, were deposited in a Citizen Bank in Newburgh, Orange County, by James M. Miller, 69, of 115 Chambers St., police said.

Miller, who is not an employee of either company, deposited the checks after falsifying business records, police said. He was arrested at his home Tuesday with the assistance of Newburgh Police.

Miller is charged with second-degree grand larceny, first-degree falsifying business records, and second-degree identity theft, police said.

He is scheduled be arraigned Wednesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
