Martin Heidgen has lost an appeal after being convicted of murder in a notorious drunken-driving crash that killed a wedding limousine chauffeur and a 7-year-old flower girl.
A lawyer for Martin Heidgen said Thursday she would seek to appeal to a higher court after learning that an appellate division panel had rejected Heidgen's claim that he was wrongly convicted of depraved-indifference murder.
Attorney Jillian Harrington said she was disappointed by the 3-1 decision.
Heidgen is serving 19 years in prison. That includes an extra year for tampering with a DNA sample used in his 2008 trial.
Prosecutors contend Heidgen showed depraved indifference by driving the wrong way for miles down the Meadowbrook Parkway after a night of heavy drinking, slamming head-on into the limousine.
