Nassau County police said Thursday they believe a man who robbed a Levittown gas station late Wednesday also robbed a Wantagh gas station about a mile away the night before.

In the most recent crime, a man with a silver handgun robbed the Ultra gas station at 3300 Hempstead Tpke. at about 10:40 p.m. Wednesday. He was wearing dark sunglasses and had a bandanna covering his face, police said.

The robber ran west on Hempstead Turnpike, police said. He was described as about 6 feet, 2 inches tall with an average build, about 190 pounds, and was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black leather pants, black cap and white gloves.

Police said they believe the same man robbed the OK Petroleum gas station at 767 Wantagh Ave. about 11:50 p.m. Tuesday. That robber was described at the time as wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, dark blue jeans, black and white sneakers and white gloves. He fled on Hunt Road, police said.

There were no injuries in either robbery, police said.

Detectives asked anyone with information on the robberies to call Crime Stoppers 800-244-8477.
