LI construction company exec gets 2-6 years in prison in bilking case

Construction company executive Jamie Rotondaro of Glen Cove was sentenced to 2 to 6 years in prison in Manhattan Supreme Court on Friday for bilking her company’s clients out of $350,000, the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office said.

Rotondaro, 33, president of Glen Cove-based Janic Construction Corp., pleaded guilty last month to second-degree grand larceny, and her father, Janic owner Anthony Rotondaro, 60, of Babylon, pleaded guilty to the same crime and was sentenced to 1 to 3 years, according to the district attorney.

The two were accused of misappropriating advance payments to Janic and another company they controlled, which specialized in interior construction projects. Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. said the case was an example of how “fraud permeates nearly every corner of the city’s construction industry.”

A lawyer for Jamie Rotondaro declined to comment.
