A Hempstead man was arrested Friday in connection with a fatal overdose of heroin, Nassau police said.
Wesley Coles, 24, of South Franklin Avenue, was charged with two counts of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and three counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, police said. He is expected to be arraigned Saturday.
Narcotics detectives and the Long Island Heroin Task Force were investigating the overdose, police said, and it led to Coles’ arrest at 4:45 p.m. Friday in Mineola. Police did not release details of the overdose, including when the person died.
The Long Island Heroin Task Force is a multiagency partnership that started last summer to battle the opioid epidemic and spike in drug deaths.
