Seven people received desk tickets charging them with second-degree riot on Sunday, following a fight between two groups of people in Lindenhurst, Suffolk County police said.
Five men were injured during the brawl, including four who were treated for stab wounds at nearby hospitals, according to police. The fifth man suffered blunt force wounds.
The fight began at 1683 Sports Bar & Grille on Sunrise Highway in West Islip at about 3 p.m. and continued five miles west at the Phillips 66 gas station in Lindenhurst 30 minutes later, where police say approximately 20 people engaged in the “physical altercation.”
Police did not say what caused the melee.
Officials said the fight was between two groups of motorcyclists, but the incident was not club- or gang-related. Police have not released the names of those who received tickets or of the injured parties.
