A Long Beach teen was arrested and charged with stabbing a 15-year-old boy during a robbery in the city Friday afternoon, police said.

Treyvon Robertson, 16, of East Hudson Street in Long Beach, approached the victim on California Place in Long Beach and demanded money, Nassau County police said in a news release.

The victim complied, handing over an undisclosed sum of cash, the news release states. The victim then asked for his money back and when he tried to grab it, Robertson pulled out a folding knife and stabbed the victim in the chest, police said.

As the two tussled, Robertson swung the knife again and lacerated the victim’s ear and wrist, police said.

The victim was taken by Nassau County police ambulance to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Attorney information for Robertson was not immediately available. Robertson was charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree assault and fourth-degree possession of a dangerous weapon, police said. He was awaiting arraignment in First District Court in Hempstead on Saturday.
