MALVERNE/Father-son fight charges tossed
Charges against a Malverne man accused of getting into a fight with his father were dismissed by a Nassau County grand jury, documents show.
Mickey A. Dolinski, 30, of Oxford Street, was accused of punching, kicking and striking his dad with a "police-type baton" after the two got into an argument in the home in July 2010, police said.
Police did not identify the father.
The grand jury dismissed the charges in December 2010.
"The above mentioned dismissal is a termination of the criminal action in favor of the accused and . . . 'the arrest and prosecution shall be deemed a nullity and the accused shall be restored, in contemplation of the law, to the status occupied before the arrest and prosecution,' " according to the Certificate of Disposition grand jury dismissal.
MASSAPEQUA/Robbers' hands in charity jar
They stole $200 from the charity jar on the countertop of a Massapequa convenience store, pouring the change into a pocketbook before fleeing, Nassau County police said.
The man and woman who police said robbed the 7-Eleven on Merrick Road on Sept. 29 were caught on surveillance video, and police yesterday released photographs of the incident. Police are asking anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS.
All calls are confidential, police said.
The incident occurred at 2:21 a.m. Police said the money was taken from a jar for a muscular dystrophy charity.
The man is described as being about 5-foot-9, wearing blue jeans a T-shirt, a blue baseball cap and white sneakers.
The woman is described as 5-foot-4 and wore leggings, a dark shirt and white sweater. She had a large pocketbook.
BRENTWOOD/Fire at truck lot appears suspicious
An early-morning fire yesterday that destroyed two trucks on a commercial lot on the Brentwood-North Bay Shore border "appears to be a criminal act," arson investigators said.
The incident occurred at a concrete supply company on Garfield Avenue near Pine Aire Drive at about 2:15 a.m., Suffolk County police said.
Police said a commercial truck and a pickup truck were destroyed in the fire. No one was injured.
Police have not identified the cause of the fire; the investigation is continuing.
