A Brooklyn man was arrested and charged with carrying a loaded handgun after a chase in Lynbrook Saturday afternoon, Nassau police said.

Police said Jean Joseph, 23, was a passenger in a 2012 Chevrolet that made an illegal U-turn on Sunrise Highway at 4:35 p.m. Saturday. He ran when an officer approached the car but police caught him after a foot chase in a backyard on Elm Street.

Joseph was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and was scheduled to be arraigned Sunday in First District in Hempstead.

The driver of the car was issued traffic tickets for the U-turn and an illegal lane change and released.
