A man has been arrested after slashing a man on the hand with a box cutter in a parking lot of the railroad station in Bay Shore, Suffolk County police said Tuesday.

Quran Abdul-Qadir, 19, who is homeless, was charged with second-degree assault in the incident Monday at the Long Island Rail Road station, police said.

The 43-year-old victim was treated for his injuries at a hospital, police said.

According to a police report, the slashing happened at 9:45 a.m. when Abdul-Qadir and the victim got into a dispute.

Suffolk police said they were investigating the assault along with MTA Police to determine the circumstances surrounding the slashing.

LIRR spokesman Shams Tarek referred questions about the assault to Suffolk police, which he said was the lead agency in the case.
