Henry Cabezas, 50, of Hempstead, was arrested June 10, 2016, and charged in the theft of about $10,000 in goods from vendors in the Roosevelt Field mall between May 29 and June 6, Nassau County police said. Credit: NCPD

A Hempstead man previously banned from Roosevelt Field mall for theft was arrested Friday at the shopping center has been charged with stealing more than $10,000 worth of goods from several stores over a 10-day period, Nassau County Police said.

On May 29, Henry Cabezas, 50, of Beverly Road, removed merchandise totaling $6,000 from the Perfume Point kiosk inside the Garden City mall on Old Country Road after it was closed, police said.

Investigators connected Cabezas to five other larceny cases between May 30 and June 6 in which he took more than $1,000 in each heist from Microsoft, Solstice, Sunglass Hut and Davis Vision, according to a news release.

While on routine foot patrol at the mall Friday, officers from the Third Precinct spotted Cabezas exiting a store and recognized him, police said. Cabezas had been banned from the mall because of previous larcenies, police said. The officers stopped Cabezas and arrested him.

Attorney information for Cabezas was not immediately available. Attempts to reach his family members were unsuccessful Saturday morning.

Cabezas has been charged with five counts of third-degree burglary and six counts of fourth-degree larceny. He is to be arraigned on Saturday in First District Court in Hempstead.
