A Port Jefferson Station man was arrested not long after he held up a Smithtown bank Thursday, Suffolk police said.

Maximilian Beres, 29, took off with cash from New York Community Bank on Nesconset Highway about 1:45 p.m. and dashed to his nearby vehicle, police said.

But Fourth Precinct Police Officer James Tobin spotted the getaway vehicle, pulled it over and arrested Beres, police said.
