A Brentwood man was charged with grand larceny Monday after, police said, he broke into a car and stole cash and other items in September.

On Sept. 9 at about 11:55 p.m., Napoleon Lugo, 36, of Montgomery Street, broke the passenger side window of a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee parked at a movie theater in Westbury, police said. Lugo then took an undetermined amount of cash, a watch and a laptop from the vehicle.

A subsequent investigation revealed that Lugo broke into a 2014 Chevrolet Suburban parked on a Long Island Expressway service road in Plainview and stole an iPad and laptop in November 2015, police said.

Lugo was arrested Monday after he surrendered to police. He was charged with one count of third-degree grand larceny, two counts of fourth-degree grand larceny and two counts of third-degree criminal mischief.

He will be arraigned Monday at First District Court in Hempstead, according to police.
