Man found in Hempstead park identified, cops say
Nassau homicide detectives have identified the man found unconscious in a Hempstead park Tuesday — who later died — as Luis Rustrian Estrada, 31, from Hempstead.
Nassau County police said Wednesday that they were investigating the death as a homicide.
Detectives from the Third Squad and Homicide said Hempstead Village Police received a call at 11:52 p.m. Tuesday about an unconscious man being found in Brierley Park on Dartmouth Street.
Estrada had “trauma injuries to his body,” police said.
He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12:56 a.m. Wednesday, according to a news release from Nassau police.
“There is no indication at this time that this is affiliated with any type of gang interaction,” Nassau Det. Lt. Richard LeBrun, a department spokesman, said Wednesday.
Anyone with more information can call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-8477. All information will be kept confidential.
