A Lake Grove man died after a Saturday night car accident in Lake Ronkonkoma, Suffolk Police said.

John Crawford, 40, was driving his 2001 Chevorlet Monte Carlo westbound on Smithtown Boulevard near Spectacle Lake Drive when he lost control of the vehicle and hit a stop sign and some large rocks, police said.

The impact caused Crawford's car to overturn and strike a tree.

Crawford was taken to Stony Brook University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead Sunday morning.

Police are continuing to investigate the accident and have impounded Crawford's car for a safety check.
