Suffolk homicide squad detectives have identified a Bay Shore man who was fatally shot Sunday morning.

Marcelo Argueta Chicas, 44, was found shot to death in North Bay Shore just after midnight, police said.

According to police, Third Precinct officers responded to the area of Heckscher Avenue, just south of Prospect Place, after the ShotSpotter system showed several shots had been fired at 12:06 a.m.

The officers found Chicas shot once. He was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician’s assistant from the Suffolk County medical examiner’s office.
