Man on Deer Park street hit by vehicle, police say

A 25-year-old man was hospitalized after being hit by a vehicle in Deer Park on Friday evening, Suffolk County police said.

Police said the victim was in the center median on Deer Park Avenue near Church Street when he was struck by the car driven by a 78-year-old woman, who drove away.

The unidentified victim was rushed to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, police said. His injuries were non-life threatening.

Witnesses gave officers a description of the car and they found the woman driver and gave her a field appearance ticket, police said.
