Man robbed at gunpoint on Riverhead street, police say

Riverhead Town police are investigating the armed robbery of a man walking on Railroad Avenue in the town early Saturday morning.

There were no reported injuries.

Authorities said police were called to the scene at 2 a.m. and were told the victim had been robbed by three male suspects — one of whom displayed a “black semi-automatic type” of handgun.

Police said one of the suspects took the victim’s cellphone before the three suspects fled on foot east on Railroad Avenue.

Additional details, including the age of the victim and where he lives, were not immediately available, police said.
