A man suffered non-life-threatening injuries when he was shot in the leg by an unknown assailant Thursday afternoon on a residential street in Massapequa, police said.

The shooting occurred near the intersection of Fairfax Road and Cedar Shore Drive at 5:34 p.m., Nassau County police said.

The victim, 27, who was shot in the right leg, was taken to a hospital for treatment. His condition was not known.

Police asked anyone with information about the shooting to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-8477.
