Man shot, wounded in N. Bellport shopping center
A man in a North Bellport shopping center was shot and seriously wounded Wednesday evening, Suffolk police said.
The man, whose name was not immediately released, was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital where late Wednesday he was undergoing surgery for a bullet wound to the chest, police said.
The shooting took place at the Miracle Plaza Shopping Center parking lot on Montauk Highway near Station Road at 7:10 p.m., police said.
Witnesses said two gunmen fled the scene in a gray Dodge, police said.
The victim was conscious when police arrived, but was not cooperative in furnishing detectives with information about what happened, police said.
