Police set up command center in search for apparent missing Manorville man

A missing persons investigation into the apparent disappearance of an 80-year-old Manorville man drew a substantial police response to a residential area Monday, including personnel from the county's Crime Laboratory. 

A Suffolk police spokesperson confirmed the investigation, saying in an email that the department is "conducting a search in Manorville in relation to a missing-person report involving an 80-year-old Manorville man, Winston Thomas." 

The spokesperson did not respond to follow-up questions, including when Thomas was reported missing and by whom. 

Suffolk police set up a command post and a truck from the county's Crime Lab and Homicide detectives converged at a home in the 200-block of North Sunrise Highway Service Road in Manorville Monday. Authorities were seen leaving the area about 1:40 p.m. 

Thomas' family could not be reached for comment.
