A suspected arsonist who apparently missed his target when he set off a late afternoon blast at a marina in Aquebogue last month, has been arrested, Riverhead police said.

An "extensive" investigation by Riverhead detectives and Suffolk's police arson squad, police said, led to the arrest of Bryan Henry, 44, of Manorville.

The Sept. 12 blast he allegedly set off at about 8 p.m. damaged the side of a building at Larry's Lighthouse Marina on Meeting House Creek Road in Aquebogue.

Executing a search warrant, investigators, along with Suffolk emergency services bomb technicians "recovered additional incendiary and bomb-making material" from Henry's home.

"Thus far, the investigation revealed the explosion was not a terroristic act, and that Larry's Lighthouse Marina was most likely not the intended target, but the investigation is still on going," Riverhead police said.

In addition to arson, Henry was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and criminal mischief. His next court appearance was scheduled for Tuesday, according to the state court website.

If anyone has information, Riverhead detectives can be reached at 631-727-4500.
