Nassau detectives said they have arrested and charged with attempted murder a Hempstead man who shot up to 14 times a man who was sitting in a parked car shortly before midnight last April.

Marlon Jones, 37, of Terrace Avenue, was arraigned Wednesday in First District Court in Hempstead on charges of second-degree attempted murder, first-degree attempted assault, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and first- and second-degree reckless endangerment.

Major Case Squad detectives said he approached a car on Terrace Avenue in Hempstead at about 11:44 p.m. on April 19 and fired into it, nearly striking a 46-year-old man who was sitting inside.

His attorney could not be reached for comment. He was being held without bail at the County Nassau jail.

Jones was located at the Federal Correctional Institution Schuylkill, Minersville, Pennsylvania, where he is incarcerated, and brought him to Nassau for arrest.
