Nassau police: Would-be Marriott hotel robber arrested
A Glen Oaks man has been arrested in the attempted robbery of a Uniondale hotel, police said Friday morning.
Sunil Joseph, 40, of Little Neck Parkway, walked into the Long Island Marriott hotel on James Doolittle Boulevard and approached a front desk clerk to show her a message on a cellphone that read “Give me your money; I want your money.”
The clerk replied that there was no money at the front desk — and he walked out of the hotel, police said.
The suspect then entered a bluish-green late 1990s model Honda Civic hatchback to leave the scene.
In a news release Friday police did not say how they connected Joseph to the alleged robbery and where they arrested him.
Joseph faces a charge of attempted third-degree robbery at arraignment Friday in First District Court in Hempstead.
