Suffolk police have arrested a man who, they say, twice robbed a Mastic bank, getting away with cash both times.

Major Case detectives charged Shakeem Smith, 18, with two counts of third-degree robbery, accusing him of robbing the HSBC bank at 1718 Montauk Hwy. on Tuesday and Wednesday.

On Wednesday at about 12:30, police said Smith walked into the bank and demanded money from the teller by presenting a note. The teller complied and Smith fled on foot, heading east on Montauk Highway, police said.

The day before, Smith had entered the same bank at about 1:20 p.m., and went through the same routine, getting cash and fleeing on foot, police said.

Smith, of Mastic Beach, will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip Thursday, police said.
