Two Bay Shore sisters face gang assault charges after Suffolk County police said they stabbed a 21-year-old man in Mastic on Saturday night.

Around 10:20 p.m., the man, whom police did not identify, was stabbed during an altercation outside a home on Dana Avenue. He was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment of his injuries. His condition was not immediately available.

After an investigation, police arrested Diamond King, 18, and Myia King-Harrison, 19, on Sunday.

The sisters are each charged with first-degree gang assault and first-degree assault, police said.

Lionel Cassetana, the man’s father, said in an interview from the hospital that his son is in a medically induced coma. He said his son was defending his sister at the time of the assault, and said five girls had been involved.

“You have older brother, of course, he's going to protect you,” Cassetana said. “I could never be mad at him for that.”

Cassetana described his children as good kids who seldom get into trouble. He said his son is a high school graduate.

"Everybody says they have a good kid,” Cassetana said. “But he’s a good kid.”

The investigation is ongoing. Detectives ask anyone with information on the assault to contact the Seventh Squad at 631-852-8752.
