Medford man arrested in Ga. on kidnapping charge, cops say
A Medford man is awaiting extradition after being arrested Wednesday in Georgia, where police said he fled after breaking into the home of his former girlfriend, forcing her into her car — and driving her to Ozone Park, where she was able to flee.
Suffolk County police said the unnamed victim, 46, suffered minor injuries.
She told police her former boyfriend, Christopher Ryan, 23, of Heather Avenue, had a handgun when he broke into her home on Brook Street in Oakdale at about 5 a.m. Wednesday, forcing her into her 2014 Mercedes-Benz, which he drove to Ozone Park.
But, police said, somewhere in Ozone Park Ryan stopped “momentarily” — allowing the victim to flee.
The car was located by the Camden County (Georgia) Sheriff’s Office at about 10:25 p.m. Ryan was then arrested.
Police said Ryan now faces extradition to Suffolk, where is facing charges of burglary, robbery and kidnapping.
Additional details of the incident were unavailable.
