Suffolk County police are looking for as many as three people they say duped would-be renters out of thousands of dollars for a Medford apartment.
Flyers posted in laundromats advertised an apartment for rent on Sipp Avenue, Sixth Squad detectives said. Two families responded in March, paying a man several thousands of dollars for the apartment, which he did not own. The suspect is believed to be working with another man and woman, authorities said.
Detectives ask anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers by calling 800-220-TIPS, using a mobile app that can be downloaded through the App Store or Google Play by searching P3 Tips, or online at www.P3Tips.com. All calls, text messages and emails will be kept confidential.
