Medford traffic stop leads to drug, weapons charges, cops say

The driver of a car and his passenger were charged with drug and weapons offenses after a traffic stop by police in Medford on Friday night, authorities said.

Emmanuel Dourthe, 18, of Homestead Drive in Coram, was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and criminal possession of a controlled dangerous substance, police said.

Police said Dourthe’s passenger, Reina Alicea, 20, of Vivian Lane in Lake Grove, was charged with criminal possession of a weapon for having a switchblade and criminal possession of marijuana.

The suspects were scheduled for arraignment Saturday in First District Court in Central Islip.

According to a Suffolk County police news release, Sixth Precinct Officer Keith Liere pulled Dourthe over at 8 p.m. while Dourthe was driving a 2003 Honda Accord on Mill Road.

The release said that during Liere’s check of the vehicle he found a loaded and defaced 9 mm pistol, an ounce of heroin, an ounce of crack, drug paraphernalia, $1,240 in cash and three cellphones.
