Police are searching for the person or persons who stole a Mercury outboard engine valued at about $15,000 off a Boston Whaler in a lot in East Farmingdale on April 1.

Suffolk County police said the engine was taken off the boat, which was in a lot at Cirocco & Ozzimo located at 118 Verdi St., sometime between 3:30 a.m. and 6:30 a.m.

Police said the thief — or, theives — cut the fence surrounding the lot and loaded the engine into a minivan.

Police have released surveillance footage of the minivan and are asking the public's help in locating the suspect or suspects.

All calls, text and emails will remain confidential and tipsters are eligible for a cash reward for all information leading to an arrest.
