A Medford man was airlifted to a hospital with “serious but non-life-threatening injuries” after crashing his motorcycle at “a high rate of speed” into the back of another vehicle Wednesday night on the Long Island Expressway in Holbrook, police said.
The other driver was not injured in the crash, police said.
Suffolk County police said the accident occurred on the westbound LIE between Exit 62, Nicolls Road, and Exit 61, Patchogue-Holbrook Road, at about 9:50 p.m. It was then, police said, that the 2015 Kawasaki motorcycle operated by John Abad, 24, crashed into the back of a 2018 Toyota driven by Mario Padilla.
Abad was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital with undisclosed injuries, police said.
Police said Padilla, 24, of Farmingville, was cited for unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.
