MTA investigates death of man on tracks
MTA police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a 19-year-old Woodside man found seriously injured on the Long Island Rail Road tracks west of Woodside, in Queens, on Saturday night.
The man, who was not identified, was taken to a hospital where he was later pronounced dead, LIRR spokesman Salvatore Arena said.
The incident caused train service on the Port Washington branch to be halted in both directions for several hours Saturday night, beginning at about 10:15 p.m. Service on the other lines of the railroad ran express schedules between Penn Station and Jamaica.
Full service was restored at about 1:30 a.m. Sunday, Arena said.
Police did not report what caused the man's injuries.
