A woman with two young daughters died after her husband shot her and then himself in the driveway of their Deer Park home, Suffolk police said.
Cathiana Bonny, 35, was pronounced dead at a hospital after the Monday night shooting. Her husband, Paul Bonny, 34, was taken to an area hospital for treatment, police said.
The two girls — aged 6 and 12 — were not hurt. Both were found about 8:50 p.m. inside a parked vehicle in the driveway of the Eastwood Avenue home where responding officers also discovered the children's parents, police said.
Earlier, a neighbor had called 911 to say a man and a woman had been shot, according to police.
"Following an investigation, Homicide detectives determined that Paul Bonny had shot Cathiana Bonny, and then himself," Suffolk police said in a statement.
A family member who was at the scene is caring for the two girls, police said.
The family had just moved moved from Elmont to the Deer Park home, which they bought in the spring for $355,000 according to property tax records.
The house, depicted in a Realtor’s photograph, is painted white with brown shutters and a tiled brown roof.
