A woman working at an Elmont beauty shop was repeatedly punched during a gunpoint robbery on Thursday, which was followed by a second in Massapequa, apparently by the same two masked men, police said.
The worker, 37, at Jada's Luxury Beauty Supply on Hempstead Turnpike was struck in the face and body after she did not fulfill their demands for money, which the two robbers backed up by displaying a handgun, Nassau County police said in a news release Friday.
The duo fled with an undisclosed amount of cash from the robbery at 6:18 p.m., according to police, only to turn up again in Massapequa, where they are suspected of robbing cash and scratch-off lottery tickets, again after displaying a handgun.
The worker at the second shop, Modern Vape and Convenience Store on North Broadway, briefly struggled before meeting their demands at 9:22 p.m., police said.
One of the robbers appears to be between 20 and 30 years old, 6 feet, 1 inch tall and wearing a dark hooded jacket and a camouflage face mask, police said.
The other, who carried the handgun, is about the same age and stands about 5 feet, 6 inches tall, police said. He wore a red snorkel jacket that had hood trimmed in brown fur and a dark mask, they added.
Anyone who might help detectives solve the crimes should call 800-244-8477. All callers will remain anonymous.
