Nassau County police are investigating an attempted robbery that occurred in Uniondale early Sunday in which the suspect fled after demanding cash from a victim at gunpoint.

At 12:20 a.m., a male in his late teens to early 20s on a bicycle went up to a woman near the intersection of Bedford and Webster avenues and placed a handgun at her neck while demanding money, police said.

The victim opened her handbag to show she had no money, then ran away. The man then left on his bicycle, traveling northbound on Bedford Avenue toward Front Street, police said.

Police described the suspect as about 6 feet tall with a thin build. He was clad in all black.

Detectives ask anyone with information regarding this crime to contact Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS.
