Nassau police on Saturday said the robbery of a Subway restaurant in New Hyde Park Friday night was not linked to a string of holdups across Nassau County.

A Nassau County police spokeswoman said the description of Friday’s suspect differed from that of the man suspected of holding up 11 restaurants and stores this spring — including the same New Hyde Park Subway, which police said the serial robber had hit on Monday morning.

On Friday, police said, a man wearing a white surgical mask entered the Subway on Jericho Turnpike shortly after 9:10 p.m. and approached the cashier with his hand covered as if he had a gun.

After getting an undisclosed amount of cash, the robber ran north on North 12th Street, police said.

He was described as 5-foot-10 with an average build and wearing a green hooded sweatshirt.

Nassau police still are searching for the suspect in the string of robberies, who has brandished a knife during the crimes. Police officials have called apprehending the suspect in that pattern of robberies “priority number one.”
