A Nassau County police officer accused of stealing $200,000 from a fellow officer and spending the money on a new vehicle, gambling, dining and an OnlyFans account was charged with second-degree grand larceny on Wednesday, Suffolk District Attorney Ray Tierney said in a news release.

Leonard Cagno, of Oakdale, solicited the money from the other Nassau County police officer, who was recovering from a serious illness, between February 2024 and June 2024, telling him it would be an investment in Cagno’s company, BW Media Consulting, LLC, Suffolk prosecutors said.

Cagno, 39, instead used the money to pay his own personal expenses, which included housing payments and credit card bills, according to Tierney’s office. The $200,000 was gone two months after Cagno received it.

"The allegations here represent a shocking abuse of the essential trust that exists between fellow officers," Tierney said. "This defendant is alleged to have preyed upon that trust for his own financial gain, and in doing so, violated one of the most important bonds in law-enforcement."

Late Wednesday, a Nassau police spokesperson said Cagno had been suspended without pay.

Cagno was arrested on Wednesday, prosecutors said. He was arraigned in Central Islip before Acting County Judge Jennifer A. Henry, who ordered him released on his own recognizance because his charge is not bail eligible under New York State law.

Jonathan Manley of Hauppauge, Cagno’s attorney, did not immediately return a request for comment.

Henry ordered Cagno to return to court on Oct. 22.

It was not clear what kind of business BW Media Consulting is, but according to state records, it is based on Madison Avenue in West Hempstead. Cagno is listed as the company's registered agent.
