Nassau Police on Wednesday identified a 56-year-old man struck and killed by a FedEx truck while bicycling Tuesday in North Hills as Jongwon Choi, of Bayside, Queens.

Choi was bicycling west on the Long Island Expressway’s North Service Road, not far from the Nassau-Queens border, when the truck hit him shortly after 9 a.m. The collision occurred near the Searingtown Road intersection, police said in a news release Tuesday

The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene by a police medic, authorities said Tuesday. The FedEx driver, a 25-year-old man, who's identity has not been released remained at the scene.

In an email Tuesday night, a FedEx spokeswoman, Meredith Miller, said: “We extend our deepest sympathies to the family and friends who are mourning their loved one lost in this accident. Safety is our highest priority and we are cooperating fully with the investigating authorities at this time.”

Earlier Tuesday, a man driving a 2015 Chrysler van collided with a utility pole near the intersection of Maple Avenue and Uniondale Avenue, Nassau police said.

He was pronounced dead by a doctor after a Nassau police ambulance took him to a hospital. Police said they were investigating but did not suspect criminality.

The victim's identity had not been released as of Wednesday afternoon.
