Three New York City men in a 2019 Maserati allegedly had 35 glassine envelopes of a powder believed to be heroin when they were taken into custody Monday in Massapequa by Nassau police investigating a fatal drug overdose, authorities said.

Narcotics Vice Squad detectives charged Kevin Mack, 31, of South Ozone Park, Queens, and Dylan Stanley, 19 and Kashawn Mason, 20, both of Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn, with third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Stanley, allegedly found to have 15 of the envelopes, was charged with an additional count of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Police said the arrests occurred at 12:40 a.m. Monday outside a Melrose Avenue home after detectives spotted the envelopes, filled with a tannish powdery substance, on the floor behind the Maserati’s passenger seat. Police said the overdose happened Friday in Massapequa, but did not say where and did not name the victim.

The men were arraigned Monday in First District Court, Hempstead. Mack and Mason were scheduled to appear again Wednesday, according to the court records; it was unclear if they had lawyers or had entered pleas. The website did not list arraignment information for Stanley.

Stanley's lawyer, McCarthy Hawkins, said, "My client maintains his innocence."

The Maserati was impounded.
