Nassau detectives are asking the public for help in catching a burglar who entered a Levittown home Saturday and stole personal papers, jewelry and a gym bag, police said.

Second Squad detectives said the 6 p.m. burglary at a home at Hilltop Lane occurred after someone entered the residence through a side door, gathered the items using a back pack and plastic bag and left through the front door. The home was not occupied at the time, police said.

Detectives ask anyone who may have information about the case to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
